01: Timing

Are you a planner? Do you like to know what’s ahead in the days, weeks, and even months? Most of us have some idea of how we want our lives to look not only in the future but also in the present tense. I am definitely a type-A personality when it comes to preparing for what’s next. I think to some extent, it helps me to feel grounded and in control. But the truth is that most of the things we will face in our lives are out of our control. The loss of a job, an illness, the loss of a family member, an unexpected pregnancy.
As hard as we try to plan and dictate the course of our life, there is a greater purpose at work.
Maybe you find yourself in that situation right now. You are facing something that you never expected to happen in your life, and you don’t know how you are ever going to overcome this obstacle.
Maybe you find yourself saying, “This isn’t the right time for me to have a baby.”
But the thing is, there is no “perfect” time. Take it from this type-A planner. No matter how hard you try, there will always be obstacles and challenges that arise on your journey of motherhood. Even when you think you have all the pieces in place, something will come along to remind you just how small you are, but also how big God is. He has walked this journey before you and He will not leave you stranded and helpless.

It’s amazing to think that before we were even born, God charted a course for our lives. He knows exactly what’s going to happen, every single day. Rest in that peace. Lean into that comfort. You are never alone, even when you don’t know what tomorrow holds. God does.
